Tips to score get good band in Writing

  1. Understanding the statement- It is extremely important to understand and analyse the statement, only then you will be able to address the issue. Always identify- whether it’s a discussion, an opinion, a solution or the combination. Go through with keywords and understand what is expected by the examiner.

  2. Draft your ideas- Before you initiate composing, take 5 minutes first to conceptualize various thoughts. Bring a pencil and scribble down as numerous as different angles and points of view, identified with the specific issue in the exposition. The test-taker would score more in the event that he/she designs and puts together their thoughts in a legitimate reworded way. It will in a manner save additional time as you have effectively envisioned the paper in your psyche and will assist you with writing your exposition better and quicker.

  3. Familiarize yourself with The Most Common Topics- Always keep in mind that the IELTS exam assesses your English language proficiency, not your knowledge. So, to improve your writing piece, give your solution with a clear thought process and various illustrations. Another technique to generate extra ideas is to ask questions like why/what/where/who/how when reading the essay topic. When you ask yourself these questions, you will be able to think more clearly and generate more ideas.

  4.  Make use of your own personal opinion-Including your unique opinion in the essay is the most effective way to compose an enhanced essay.  To make the essay more explicit, try to provide relevant examples to support your idea and make sure that these ideas should be from your knowledge or from your personal experience. If you are quoting any data then write the exact resource or you can write “by leading newspaper". It will make an impact on your writing.

  5. Use of Lexical Resource- One of the four Writing Assessment Criteria that contributes to your writing score is lexical resource. However, many IELTS candidates are unaware of how to employ lexical features. Spellings must be used correctly, as well as collocations and word formation. Those who are unfamiliar with this practise employ repetitive words in their essays which will lead to the deduction of your score.

An examiner, on the other hand, is looking for a range of words and phrases in your response. When he or she cannot locate any variety of words, it gives the impression that your vocabulary is lacking. He or she thinks you don't know much about the language and gives you a low grade as a result. As a result, whenever possible, avoid using the same words in your essay.

  1. Make Paragraphs- Many candidates do not use paragraphs while writing an academic or general piece of an article. Do not describe the entire topic clearly in just a single paragraph. By doing so in the IELTS Essay Writing Task, you will definitely risk your marks. So, frame your idea then develop it and after this support it with an example. One idea in a single paragraph to maintain the continuity.

  2. Time Management- Since the test is time bound, therefore you need to complete it in 40 minutes. Hence it is essential, you should foster legitimate time usage abilities prior to showing up for the IELTS Exam and also make sure that your essay should not be under length.
